Are you ready for the last part of the Reset Your Heart challenge?
Here's the last part of the final challenge, and the topic is on rest. It sounds simple enough, but when God calls you to truly rest, what comes to mind?
If you have been following my Wake Pray Slay community on Facebook, most of you will know the book of Job has been a representation of my last 10 months, where all areas of my life have been tested: my career with Alleymuse, my relationship with my non-believer husband, my patience in healing from my car accident and the trauma stored in my body.
We know God is working behind the scenes, but we can't help but miss the good old days. In the season of nothing-is-going-on, we start to work faster and harder, because society will ask you this question: if you're not at the top, do you deserve to take a break?
Give Yourself The Rest You Deserve
Thankfully, we serve a humble God who rested on the 7th day after creating the sea, the hills, the light, the morning stars, everyone, and everything. The creator of goodness, creativity, and affection, has blessed us one day at the beginning of the week to rest and enjoy the life he's gifted us.
Though God has rested from His creative work, He is still working. Where we need to be replenished, God does not. Because rest is a gift, it won't force itself on us. Like any other gift, it must be received.
Perhaps, we can accept this gift of rest, to review and celebrate the small things that we may have missed in the last 30, 60, 90 days.
- Be still and know I am God - Psalm 46:10
- Oh, Lord God! You yourself made the heavens and earth by your great power and with your outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for you! - Jeremiah 32:17
- Jesus responded to them, "My Father is still working, and I am working also." - John 5:17
How do you find rest in God?
- What are some missed opportunities that you're celebrating now?
