Welcome to week 1! This is a 3-week reflection to help you think about what you have been carrying on for so long in your heart. Week 2 will be posted next Wednesday, July 24.
Before you jump into the challenge, we want your heart to be absolutely prepared. Set aside 5-10 minutes for yourself (your Instagram can wait)!
Please also share your reflections in the comment section below. We believe wholeheartedly that your thoughts can help someone else in their personal journey. You do have something to offer, don't forget that!
Please note: You can still participate and reflect even if you're not a Christian. Use the word 'Universe' instead of God if that helps :)
Know Your Worth
She put on her rings and her jewelry
and followed her lovers,
but she forgot me. Hosea 2:13
How many days in a row do we put on something to wear but forget to put on God's garment of peace. We put on our running shoes to lose 5 pounds. We put on mascara to complete our beauty look. We put on self-help podcasts to learn the secrets to success while putting a timer on creating new meaningful relationships.
We are a lover of many things, but I wonder if any of those things can keep us whole. Hosea 2:7 illustrates a female who will pursue her lovers but not catch them; she will look for them but not find them. Then she will think, "I will go back to my former husband, for then it was better for me than now." With or without a husband, my heart is always guilty of searching for the next big thing to make me feel good, be perfect, and gain control. The belief that I needed more in my life controlled my heart and soul, and damaged the self-worth piece that God put in me. True worth should not come from looks, education, marital status, or popularity. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight (1 Peter 3:3-4).
What are some things that are ruling and controlling God's peace in your heart?
What comes to mind when you think about God weeping in secret because He wants your love?
If this is your everyday garment, what word would you choose to wear?
